How to reach: To reach the tidal bench marks from the intersection of State Highway 22 and U.S. Highway 98 bypass, proceed east on State Highway 22 for 8.5 km (5.3 mi) to State Highway S-167, then south on State Highway S-167 for 2.9 km (1.8 mi) to the first dirt road after crossing Cooks Bayou, go east on the dirt road for 1.9 km (1.2 mi) to its end. The bench marks are located across the Bayou on the spit of land at Laird Point. The tide gage and staff were located on a small platform at the entrance to Laird Bayou, 17m (55 ft) east of the west shore.
